Hi, I’m Christina!
Welcome to my little virtual corner for my real large family!
Here at The Scott Flock it is my hope that you can…
- find inspiration and encouragement to make simple healthy food
- learn to bake with traditional sourdough using fresh milled flour
- glean straightforward organizational strategies to improve your life and daily habits.
Whether you are a homeschooling mama, a grandma, an empty nester, or just starting your adult journey, I want you to see that if I can do it, you can do it too.
A Little Bit About Our Large Family
I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart Nathaniel for 23 years and together we have 13 beautiful children. And YES I gave birth to each of them (no twins!) I’ve homeschooled our children since the beginning and have always been on the crunchy side of things. I am not naturally organized, but I am naturally enthusiastic. I have a love for a variety of things, including coffee, wool yarn, cardigans, babies, and healthy food that tastes GOOD.

We moved to our little homestead in 2019 after years of dreaming and praying we could have our own little slice of land to have chickens and garden. Since moving here, I gave birth to our youngest two children. We also married off our three oldest children and added two beautiful grandchildren to our lives. In between all that, we raise a few batches of meat chickens, keep chickens for eggs, and make a valiant, though not always successful, attempt at gardening each year.
Why Freshly Milled Flour & Sourdough?
Like many moms, I want to feed my family the healthiest food I can manage, but I don’t have endless hours to spend in the kitchen. I need to make every bite count! I’ve known for years that bread from the store is missing many essential vitamins and nutrients because of its extensive processing. But the idea of milling my own flour and keeping up with sourdough felt overwhelming.
Could I really make this work in the middle of our busy life?
The answer is YES– and so can you!
I believe that real food should be simple, nourishing, and doable— especially for busy people. Freshly milled flour is packed with nutrients, and sourdough not only makes it easier to digest, but it increases its nutritional content! Together, they are extremely nourishing, and – yes – delicious. No dry, dense, crumbly bread here!
But more than that, baking has become a way to slow down and feel grounded. When I bake, I feel a connection to the millions of people who have come before me who prepared bread this way. It has nourished generations of people before us, and it continues to be a staple of nutrition today. I want the same for you. I want you to feel grounded, healthy, and empowered to bake bread from freshly milled flour and sourdough. You will reap the many benefits it has to offer you and your family!
